Natural Gas Services Ltd was formed in 1995 by five ex-British Gas managers and supervisors who had all acquired considerable experience in the industrial/commercial & domestic side of the gas business. Ranging from design consultancy, to all sizes and installation of pipe-work, heating and process applications.

It was the initial intention that the company would concentrate on the Industrial & Commercial sector, but in 1996 we were awarded the British Gas contract for their Gas Care Elderly & Disabled Safety Checks (domestic), throughout the Yorkshire/Lincolnshire area. This contract is still ongoing and now represents a significant part of our business: occupying on average 4 to 5 Engineers full time. The contract is complemented with additional Quality Assurance work for Leeds City Council's Domestic Service Contractors.

We presently have a total of 20 staff, who offer flexible coverage across a wide geographical area. With engineers located in Hull, York, Leeds, Wakefield, Barnsley, and Scunthorpe we are able to efficiently service clients throughout the area.

As well as being fully CORGI registered for all types of gas work, we are recognized Investors in People, registered with Constructionline and recognised as a Government Champion for supporting Age in the Work Place. Recently NGS has signed a partnership arrangement with British Gas providing support with our Engineers for their Service Contract customers.

We also work for Facilities Management groups, including Dalkia (for Smith & Nephew), Hyder, Aqumen, and City Facilities Management Ltd., and are on the approved list of Leeds City Council Contractors.

In 1999 the company identified a significant gap in Gas industry Training in the Yorkshire area, and a sister company Natural Gas Services (Training) Ltd. was formed to meet this demand, based at Gelderd Road, Leeds 12. In less than 18 months NGST Ltd acquired an established Training and Assessment Centre, Skills Training Agency Ltd, based in Hitching, Hertfordshire, which has gone from strength to strength. In October 2002 a further Training and Assessment Centre was opened in Scarborough to provide training facilities for the East Coast and North Yorkshire areas.

Natural Gas Services (Training) Ltd is now the head Company of our Group and has purchased the leased property for the Scarborough operation, and a further extensive property in Hull. The Hull property is being utilize as a multifunctional site which will house NGS Ltd operations, with a large proportion of the property developed into a Training and Assessment Centre. The group has further investments and has also opened a prestigious Training and Assessment Centre (Natural Gas Services (Training) Newcastle Ltd) in Cramlington which is situated just north of Newcastle.
